About us - Bed and Breakfast Dekemahuis

We are Chris and Gea Smits. Our family consists of Stefan, Alex and Lysanne and of course our sweet little dog Yara, a Sheltie.

We had long wanted to start a Bed and Breakfast. After moving often in the Netherlands, we became the happy owners of the Dekema House in Franeker in 2020. A national monument where we have converted the part above the lingerie store into a Bed and Breakfast.

Hospitality is in our genes and we love meeting people and experiencing how beautiful Franeker is.

We take the privacy of our guests, relations and website visitors very seriously. The personal data will therefore never be passed on or sold to third parties. We only process the personal data for the purpose for which you provided them and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) and the Telecommunications Act. Processing of personal data
You provide information when using our Bed and Breakfast and website. This can be personal data. Below you can see data that can be processed, depending on whether you book, come to stay or if you have provided your contact details via this website:

- Phone number

Special and / or sensitive personal data
Our Bed and Breakfast and website do not intend to collect data about website visitors under the age of 16. Unless they have parental or guardian permission. However, we cannot check whether a visitor is older than 16 via the website. Parents are therefore advised to be involved in their children's online activities, in order to prevent data from being collected about children without parental consent. - To be able to call or e-mail you if this is necessary to perform our services
- Improve the website and tailor our bed and breakfast to your preferences

View, adjust or delete data
You have the right to view, correct or have your personal data deleted. You also have the right to withdraw your consent to the data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by Bed and Breakfast Dekemahuis and you have the right to data portability. To ensure that the request for access has been made by you, you can send a copy of your ID with the request. Make your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and citizen service number (BSN) black in this copy. This is to protect your privacy. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but within four weeks.

We would also like to point out that you have the opportunity to file a complaint with the national supervisory authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

How we have secured the personal data
We take the protection of your data seriously and take appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification. If you feel that your data is not properly secured or there are indications of abuse, please contact dekemahuis@gmail.com.
